70th Birthday Karaoke Party

We were delighted to return for another celebration with a long-standing client — a successful restaurant owner we’ve worked with since 2013, having run many memorable parties for him over the years. This time, it was his seventieth birthday, and while he wanted a short DJ set to open the evening, the real focus was a full 70th birthday karaoke party.

The event was held on a relaxed summer Tuesday evening at Singapore Garden in Hampstead, where guests enjoyed a buffet dinner in a warm, sociable atmosphere. We recognised many familiar faces from previous events at the Mango Tree going back to 2013 — a testament to the loyalty and friendships built up around these celebrations.

Most guests worked in the hospitality industry, supplying Oriental foods across the UK, and the room included several well-known names from the trade — from delivery companies to major cash-and-carry suppliers serving Oriental restaurants throughout London and the wider UK.

The evening was informal and easy-going. After a warm speech from the birthday host, guests took turns on the microphone, singing karaoke from a small screen set up in the corner. The brief was simple: a compact, unobtrusive setup with just a few lights, letting the karaoke take centre stage.

We ran the night using KaraFun software, with a song selection shaped around the age range of the guests — plenty of eighties disco and Motown classics, plus a couple of Chinese songs, which KaraFun handled with a nice surprise. The party ran for four hours, wrapping up at 10:30pm, and once again, we’re grateful to have clients like this since 2013 who keep bringing us back for their 70th birthday karaoke parties and more.
